FCKD Mag #1 documentation
A friend and collaborator purchased the first version of the new FCKD Mag project from the Walgreen’s at 3227 Magazine St in New Orleans a few days after the “drop”. I asked her a couple of questions about how it played out & how she pulled it off.
Where did you find the magazine in the store? How was it displayed?
It was a couple rows from the front. Looked like it was looked through, as the pages were a little rustled.
Can you tell me a bit about the process of buying it, the reaction of the store clerk?
It was funny. They seemed to not think anything was wrong with the fact that it was covered in spray paint, including the barcode. The clerk asked a woman on the floor to fetch her one without the spray paint covering the barcode. “Can you get me another of these ‘Wank’ magazines?”, she said.
Apparently, the spray paint, changed name, damaged barcode, and Madonna’s new penis weren’t cause enough to stop the sale from going through. The clerk simply scanned a different W Magazine and Michele walked out with the first print of FCKD Mag #1 for $5.99 + tax.
